She's Me

She's Me

A Poem by Haley Lynn Thomas

She’s the girl who always loves more

The one who always ends up broken hearted

Sitting alone on her bed sobbing

Playing back everything like a broken record

She’s the girl who always loved more

Her best friends have all left her behind

Even though she’d die for them still

The boy she loved left her shattered in pieces

Even though she’d die for him still

She’d die for them but they wouldn’t for her

She’s the girl who’s never felt like enough

Who hates what’s in the mirror

The one who pretends she’s okay alone

When all she wants is to be loved

When all she desires is to be held at night

She’s been pushed around one too many times

She’s been put down instead of built up

Always the punch line of their cruel taunts

Always being compared to her sister

Always being told that she can never be better

She’s me.
