Jumble

Jumble

A Poem by Nessa
"

doesn't matter, never did.

"

Oh, it's only natural.
Another familiar face retreats
From behind the stands at the field.
Where we crossed the stream and raced back
To a place that was once
considered
home.
Sympathy with sincerity
always intertwined like our fingers
Although never leaving with the forehead kiss good night
      --With such caution it always was;
      never mistaken for discomfort.
It left with the self control that still remained
One slip up was all it took
And this world came caving in around that night.
Constant change was always expected,
But no longer was anything replacing the past.

All we stand for and the places we've grown,
are breaking off.
Between us and the things we've known
Is the static and oblivion to wrongdoings.
It would all be cleared if it were not for the
lack of communication
lack of inclusion
and overdose of false pretense.

I wait, wait, wait.
Undeserved patience guarantees a new mindset.
In which the atmosphere is back to waves
the sky is once again the glass
and we're still nothing more than figurines in a dome like earth.
Our jaws are set, our expressions refined
Everything these hollow eyes have seen
Every word this painted mouth has spoken
Will pass through each narrow mind
Of each living
breathing
consuming
structure
without a second glance.

Interruptions of guilt and bitterness go hand in hand.
Spoken by the voice of an autumn yet to come.
And it seems to be singing these songs of youth backwards.
Time itself is aging; these mix tapes are getting old.
They say repetition is key,
But they've changed the locks on these closed doors.
