They're Killing Hip Hop Music

They're Killing Hip Hop Music

A Poem by kelvin

Most of you artist out here thinking you’re 2pac.
While you others walking around with your big guns cocked.

With these so-called gangster figures bragging about who they’re killing,
listening to studio artists talking about their rims that be spinning.

Now we hearing the pioneers of hip hop gasping for reverence,
seeing the life of hip hop being corrupted in her essence.

Now listening to these artists spitting lyrics sounding lame.
Murder, drugs, calling women w****s, it’s all the same.

Now peep game phony, spit some real music hits,
instead of walking around exploiting sex, and drug for kicks.

You need to quit, saying you’re the greatest in the game.
It was two greatest, they’re deceased, I’m saying no names.

For it’s a shame when you’re talking about rubbish that don’t matter,
like whose life, guns, or drug deals is fatter.

It don’t matter now, I guess hip hop’s dying, so bless her soul.
While commercial artist, wanting the hardcore image, selling their
souls.

Hip hop’s dying y’all.

Author's Note

kelvin
Its a responsibility of the rich and famous to watch their actions and the things they say, for there's innocent eyes as well as others watching and taking it all seriously. When most are acting and pretending they're living this type of lifestyle and the things they say or do in their music is influencing what their fans do isn't a funny thing. Exploiting things, and degrading women, saying they're killing and shooting someone sometimes manipulates the fans minds to act on it, this isn't a good thing. Is a on going thing that the more they get away with the more going to be done.

I used to like hip hop and rap, but now I despise it. All it is misogynistic bullshit and how much money they have. When every last word in a sentence is mothafucka or n***a I get pretty pissed off. I stick to actual music now. Good write addressing a very existent 'issue'.

I dont know about this rap...but you used the reference well to convey the thought you meant to. Always sad when all that matters is money and the corruption and the rot gets to evrything.

You are welcome...
I grew up in the golden age of hip hop late 80's and early 90's, and I'll agree on point, that its not the same music, however, to say, they weren't projecting images back then would be ludicrous...I do believe music does evolve, for better or worse...the lyrical rhymes back then were potent, compared to now...its the artist not wanting to be real, but more giving the industry to what they should put out for consumption...I'm getting into my middle age now, and I do miss those days when I was young at a club listening to hip hop...would I do that now, NOPE...its because rap or hip hop is a young man's game...in that age, guys and gals alike are insecure and they'll project that image...and they'll continue to do so...cycle of life...hip hop just lack substance now, its diluted. Awesome thoughts, Kelvin.

Yep Yep
I don't know a whole lot about hip hop. But I'm afraid all music suffers the same fate. It starts out with a pure idea and rapidly becomes corrupted and commercialized.
