I don't want to be the best
I just want to be good-

A good person
A good neighbor
A good teacher
A good citizen
A good man

For sometimes
In trying to be the best
Man forgets how to be good

I just want to be simple
I just want to be happy.

Simple, elegant with positive message, inspirational too, good can be our personal best, unhealthy competition to be best may put us in frustration and discord which is unwelcoming, enjoyed each lines, conclusion is the best and the most essence in life itself too

We live in a competition-driven society. In order to get the proper respect or attention of others we need to excel, to DO what is best. But doing what is best is not necessarily the right/good thing….

Dhaye, if its ok with you I would like to give you a different perspective. Your piece is giving me a confirmation of what you're trying to reflect and outlook of what's like to live a new life. This is not turning a new leaf but a new life. And I can see the changes and a new desire sprouting from your heart and its starts to reflect some of these in your new pieces. Something really caught my attention here. " A good christian " ... You identified yourself with that name. Its not an easy name to carry. It's in fact hard, very hard to live . But we don't have to live that life with a notebook of checklist and to do list. When a person is in Christ. He or she has two nature living inside one body. One is flesh and one is a new spirit. This two war with each other. Often times our self is our worst enemy But let me encourage you with this. There are two righteousness- Positional and Practical. You already have the first. Just simply practice what you already are in position. In Layman's term ... Instead of trying TO DO ... try TO BE ...You have a new nature and a new spirit. Let that come out instead of the other.

Neil, when I say "I want to be" that could also mean "I wish". And you are right when you said it's hard to carry that name..and there's always a war between the flesh and the spirit. Well, I'm just stating what I want...
