If the once friend turns to wind
Like the rain that stops to fall
What if the sun sets down
Just to listen to the earth's call

If the fire has smaller flame
And they all stop to see
What is there inside each one
When I find a mute in me

A little ember inside I feel
How could I show the fire
The kind of care I could give
Is not the one they require

The only best friend you have
Is not the wind nor the rain
It could not be the earth either
If they only cause you pain.

My once muse told me that the only best friend you have is yourself. I was hurt then. Now, I believe her.

might be that we are the only best friend for ourselves...the only one we can surely count on to be there always....but if we find one of earth, of rain, of fire...one that doesn't cause us pain...we should hang on tightly.
