So it seems, but is it so?

So it seems, but is it so?

A Poem by Heather Corti
"

questioning how and why we justify life the way we do

"

If beauty is in

The eye of the beholder

Why do so many women

Wear makeup?

Why is it so funny

When the comedian’s black

And the punch line’s

Making fun of white people?

Why is it that sex, when

You’re single, is just for fun

Yet when you get married

Sex can cause a divorce?

        If everyone is entitled

To their own opinion

Why is it that there are

People who are politically incorrect?

How come when I was Miss Hernandez

I was considered Hispanic

But now that I’m Mrs. Smith

I’m considered white?

At what point do we

Look each other in the face

And yell,

 "stop the madness?"
