Fear of Losing You

Fear of Losing You

A Poem by Heather Mirassou
"

No longer two hearts bow-tied with strings; instead, reclusive, lonely hearts, in a noose.

"
No longer affectionate, attentive, thoughtful eyes;
instead, an expressionless, invisible, blank stare.

No longer strolling hand-in-hand, carelessly;
instead, walking moonbeams apart, drifting like clouds.

No longer drowning in passionate, lingering kisses;
instead, an obligatory, awkward, fleeting peck.

No longer two hearts bow-tied with strings;
instead, reclusive, lonely hearts, in a noose.

No longer dreaming of a lifetime together;
instead, an uncertain, somber, painful future.

No longer a confident, loving wife;
instead, a heartsick, lonely, aging woman,

Desperately afraid of losing you.

the pain permeates through this write..how many have found themselves in this place...afraid of moving on out of a loveless relationship

A horrifying thought for someone to lose another whom they've loved and grown with for many, long years, especially when a feeling of the way things were in the past, the flirts, the laughs, and the closeness is still yearned for.

First I have to say this poem is just a gem. It shows feelings and the remains of a once beautiful relationship that is being strangled even more by fear of losing. I am one who believes we operate out of two modes in life. Love or Fear all emotions come from those two. At some point couples stop loving and start fearing and that is when they begin to drift apart. Your comparisons of love and lost of love is great. I loved this poem!
