A Poem by E.j.aka.Hannah

Honey, honey, tell me true.

Ive always wanted to sing to you,

Dusty rains comin down,

Dropping loudly without a sound.

Proud lil Lizbeth,

Her parents are so harsh,

But as long as she keeps her mind hollow,

Rock n roll is sure to follow.

Worship the moon,

and dont forget the stars,

Dont get wound up,

with men and shiny cars,

Dont forget the blues, Elvis and his blue suede shoes,

Ill watch the Jersey shore for ya Lizbeth,

The moon is watchin for ya to.

People are foolish and tame,

Youve wouldve been lost had this song not came,

Your the fruit of the soul,

The last bit of musical cool,

People say you learn from what you see,

The truth is always the last note to me.

This is a great read. I especially liked the lines:

But as long as she keeps her mind hollow,
Rock n roll is sure to follow.

These lines could be interpreted many ways with the different people all coming to the same conclusion. I think that is difficult to do. This technique made a few bands legendary.

I love the theme of the artist not losing them self. You took this familiar theme and made it interesting. I also saw a bit of sacrifice in this poem. The person here is going to miss the friend that is leaving, but they want them to have their dream because they care. They never speak of what they are going to lose when their friend leaves. This could go right over the reader's head. There are some other themes hidden in this work. This poem is not one that could only be read once. It is a strong work, but you have many emotions that are expressed in layers underneath the surface. I encourage the readers to take their time and let each line set in. The person may be lonely, but the love will still exist in the music that will be made.
