He said, "Kiss My Irish A*s."

He said, "Kiss My Irish A*s."

A Poem by E.j.aka.Hannah

As soon as the lights turned down to green,
I heard the girls of the crowd go scream,
I knew the band would appear in their glory,
With every step I heard their story.

The man appeared in black and blue,
His hair as black as a stormy day,
His eyes as green as the trees on the cay,
The demons danced in his eyes,
And the devilish grin made my heart cry.

The kilts, they swayed,
And the music they played,
The push of the crowd was far too wild,
But the anger and sweat was as playful as a child,
And as he pushed his hand towards mine,
I screamed along as our voices combined.

He's an Irish b*****d with a heart of gold,
The world at his feet and his fans at his toes,
He's not the boy to bring home to daddy,
He's not the average Catholic laddy,
He's beer on Sunday and the wine at mass,
He's the sex teens have on green grass,
He's a b*****d, a cheat, a liar and a cad,
But my life was taught by that Irish band.

As the crowd grew rowdy and the bagpipes squealed,
I knew in an instant that my soul would be killed,
If didnt let go of all my pain,
So I dropped my wall and then it came,
The blast of freedom as though I felt,
the beauty of the truth of being a Celt.

I really like the refrain since it wasn't the typical 4liner - also, it was filled with good metaphors "he's the sex teens have on the green grass" is my fav. I also like the diction "laddy" to reinforce the Irish theme (as well as the Catholic reference). Things I'm a little iffy on:
why did you begin with a 4 line stanza then move to 6 lines (in ur non-refrain stanzas)? "Heart of Gold" does give a sense of folk story, but it also comes off as a little cliche - and this guy seems like the male version to "Super Freak" by the almighty Rick James ("She's not the type to bring home for mother") - it may just be an unfortunate allusion, but ur line does conjure it
But they're just minor quarks. For some reason, this poem made me think of the lead singer of Oasis...nice work.
