Fate and Infatuation

Fate and Infatuation

A Poem by Crowley
"

A little squishy Monday stuff....

"

A gift for you and the way you tell me I am whole and worthwhile, that smile penetrates
I adore the way you stretch to reach my thoughts instead of letting them come to you
I made a comment about the way a stray dog is singularly focused on finding food
You said that same dog would starve to death for just a little kindness and love, I smiled

It is in your nature to draw a blanket of comfort and desire about the shoulders of your love
Underneath that giving tree, the one by the lake where you look into the reflection to find your words
And they shine, oh God do they shine, I feel like I have a pocket full of new nickels, my coin collection
Every time I see your face it reminds me of the  bright lights on the midway and their illusory shimmer

I saw you for the first time and said hello
You looked at me and asked if I had a light
I carried your smile home and had dreams
And awoke to an understanding of fate and infatuation
