The Good Eye

The Good Eye

A Poem by Crowley

It was that one eye of yours that thrilled me so
A brown so deep I could see the origination of the big bang
Not that your other eye wasn't beautiful, it sparkled
But, at night I think of the good eye I and shudder with delight
If you were a pirate, you could cover the good eye
And if you fell in love, remove the patch before making love the first time
Oh how that would spoil your lover, how he would stare
The two of you would ride the light, never noticing the stars
Unless they reflected in the good eye

Thanks BB!!! Sorry so late in replying, this weekend has been a blur!!
This is a wonderful poem Crowley. The way you have used your imagination to give us a completely new take on the overdone and repetitive poetry of love is brilliant. I suppose falling head over heels is like a voyage of discovery where you are not in control.
Great!
Cheers,
Alan

Hey Alan.... thank you!! I love when you visit!!!
This goes beyond the words used. It goes into the surreal, into metaphysics into storytelling as legend. And for all those reasons and more I like it immensley.

Thank you so much Ken!!! I really appreciate it!!
Pray tell, my dear Sterophes, what was in the sandwich? Whatever it was, I'll order it next time I pop into a Subway.

I'm biased, but I think brown eyes are best, as they beguile, rather than bewitch as blue eyes tend to do. But then again, there are two sides to every coin. :))

Beccy.

I love the brown eyes as well. This one is a little out there but it’s what bubbles up. Thank you .. read more
This is deep Crowley and I am not sure whether I get the full drift of your lines. I think I would rather concentrate on the good eye, which I take to be the pleasant side of a person's personality. The other eye can stay closed. Yes cover it up with a pirate patch, that will do the trick. Better to see the positives than the negatives. I am going to wish you a very happy Thanksgiving. Have a great time. Although we don't celebrate it over this side of the pond in the way that you do, I am grateful for what I have and I will be thinking of you all who do celebrate this special day.

Thanks Chris, we did have a good holiday even if a little unorthodox.
I have decided to live without the lupus meds...my eye(s) need to see the world while there is still love in it. :P

Hey Q!!! Great to see you!!! I can understand that. Thanks for stopping by and reading my silliness... read more
Even with romantic themes you enjoy perplexing readers, don't you! Not at all sure what's lurking in those words..

isn't always what you see when you look out , but what you look at and why - perhaps. Given two eyes for the use of, just as given two ears.. one for reality's sake, the other to use when it comes to imagining how. Perhaps? Which to focus on perhaps?

You always make me smile...thank you for that!!
"remove the patch and...?" oh yes, that good eye looks great for those looking in...but what looks out behind it is quite deceptive.
this is really cool....i remember the first time i heard a version of "The Telltale Heart"---
boy scout camp, bonfire...a priest....really spooky the way he told it...i'll always remember him talking about the protagonist going past the old man's room and looking in...he said "the man was asleep, but the EYE was awake"---that eye..
this woman's good eye, always awake, always looking for a victim.
