Instead of....

Instead of....

A Poem by Crowley

Taking the time to realize what I do have
doesn't come naturally, it's not instinctual.
Eating a day in sugar packet increments,
the calories are empty, laced with bitter responsibility.

Looking into the eyes of a loved one and realizing
that my connection has been lost, buffering.
Can you see the me that once lifted spirits,
asked how your day was and waited for an answer?

Instead of peering at the world through a microscope graticule,
is it possible to become all encompassing again?
Playing the vibrations of this existence like a harpsichord,
Baroque, intense, satisfying to the tuned ear.

How was your day, I'm listening.

I should have known it would be you....I've heard it rustling for some time now.....that amazing mind of yours is crackling and creaking and speaking in breezes and rhythms!

you are listening, but only a few are...
and it will never be all encompassing unless that happens.

voices cry out for change and a few hear it...and act on it...but many hear it and ignore it.
not good...
we need togetherness...one voice, one ear.
great poem, Crowley.

At times the drive and enthusiasm for life goes on the back burner. The song is off key. That's how this poem made me feel. A bit weary, a bit remote. I usually bounce back but I guess some may find that difficult to do. I really enjoyed the final stanza. Intense and satisfying to the ear, that sounds a good way to live. Tuned in to everything and everyone.

Optimism is indeed a trait that must be constantly be fed with an unselfish love. It takes a tremendous heart to try and inspire joy in life for others to aspire towards. This thoughtful poem speaks of its constant nurture and the difficulty it intails. Thank you for sharing your poem.
