Write on Love

Don’t let me tell you what to write

On the hill, beneath your sweetheart tree

The night blooming freesias open and close on your command

The wind blows sweet words to flow from your pen….smoothly

It’s your heart that flows red, then bright orange, pumping

As it bleeds a picture of what you might become

The breeze, just a kiss of dandelion fuzz

Tickles your lip and lets you know that everything will be alright

Don’t let me tell you what to write

On the hill, that overlooks your love and longing

A rolling green field giving way to sometimes azure waters

Lapping at the shore that seems the same, but changes….sweetly

It’s your eyes that allow a man to enter your thoughts

And feel the excitement of the day unbridled, senses firing keenly

Wringing hands made for grasping, supporting, stroking

Looking into a soul that supports an emotional payload

Don’t let me tell you what to write

On the hill, gazing into the pool where every woman finds her inspiration

Pulling phrases like fishes, slick and shiny, deadpan eyes

Releasing inhibition, believing in the turn of a phrase….softly

It’s your words love, deep and crucial….tender

It’s your words love, surpassing expectation

It’s your word love, fire and brimstone….exhilarating

It’s your words love, they mean the world

lets just talk about how absolutely delicious this is!!! pulling phrases like fishes... goddamn that whole stanza is jealousmaking. also, it correlates exactly how i feel about writing. we can only offer criticis. on the form and function of a write, not the why of it

The 4th stanza is my favorite, though I enjoyed
every line. Inspirational, tender and sweet imagery.
You're Author's Note is so true.
Nicely penned.

No one should tell anyone what to write about love, but they should perhaps suggest to them how often they do it....!! ;) (a message to others)
The images enunciated in this poem are very beautiful, almost ethereal, and one could almost say that they are very close to reflecting the feelings that love impresses the soul with... at least, they get within sight of that abstract...For what words could match the feeling adequately..? I don't see this so much as a love poem, exactly, but more of an objective study of love and the effects it has on perception and emotion in general. Enabling visions of beauty and peace and all the positive potentials of life... But this is a short-term epiphany that dies away gradually in the same way everything in existence must die by definition.. why should love be any different from nature...? (But here I am answering questions that no one has asked me... but in case they should..)
It's interesting (and I've no doubt that I will be accused of being chauvinistic here) that I have found men to be able to freely express love in words far better and more objectively than women. This poem is no exception. It is written with great imagination, and the arrangement of it is very skilled and it is intelligently delivered, wrapped-up in a sagacious and understanding and real poetic expression.
