Fly TRAP!

My garden would be beautiful, but not complete, not without something a little out of order...like a venus fly trap, the carrion flower, some opium.

 

 

 

 

 

I think your Alice forgot to tell you about me.
This garden of hers is not what it appears to be.
Surrounded by roses and the sweet humming bees.
My stems perk and tickle because I know you see me.

 

Thirsty; I open my buds to receive the fresh rain.
Hungry; you prick a ring finger and flinch in brief pain.
I feed....you smile, in knowing I can never be tamed.
Your lips whisper out, "Grow, and take these flies for fresh game."

 

All this affection, I thought Alice would be jealous.
Attentive with a love that seemed secret and zealous.

Keeping me safe, guarding me with a golden trellis.
I am your Venus fly trap, hungry, bold and luscious.

A pearl in an oyster is not there by mistake. It may wonder about its creation as an irritation or it can see itself for the beauty of symmetry and the inspiration it creates in the eye of the beholder.

The fly trap doesn't put out a signboard about danger ahead. But of course if it gets self conscious ... . Tantalizing!

venus fly trap....a wonderful euphemism. this is scored with talent and beautifully written. sometimes i read others writes and think , meh, this is good but it has been done before, i read yours and think mmm, how very bold and refreshing! it does my heart good to see so much fresh and original writing here of late. you never disappoint. very clever and wonderfully penned!

me too, used to have 9 ft poster of her from a concert she did back in the 90's...she was raw and savagely sweet, I adored everything about her.

This is pure and unbridled art. This is in my humble opinion, a piece of perfection.
I felt myself becoming wanton of the flower.
( I say flower because of your imagery of the flowers upon the woman's brow, it is on my end what was taken as your portrayal at first and with the as it was early phrased by (Dayran) "tantalizing" choice of words. )
Then almost spiteful, of it. " All this affection, I thought Alice would be jealous. "
Followed by the next two lines which leaves me curious of the importance of this Venus fly trap over Alice, or her over it. ( as I perceived Alice might as well )
Completely and utterly magnificent...
Thank you ever so much for putting this here over and where ever else.

The flytrap is not a kill but a stand alone individualistic plant, and when I read this poem you basically gave evidence to this fact. Also the music gave me the feeling of letting go and allowing me to enter into some ... muse.

all i can think of is little shop of horrors when this plant is mentioned...it's different muse from what im used to reading by you but then again ive been away for a bit and probably lost touch of everyones evolution.
