non compos mentis

non compos mentis

A Poem by Muse

non compos mentis
that's right my mind is not right
growing madder by the week
it's the psychotic pulse that I seek
sometimes I want to cut in deep
hysterical chanting in my ear
even when you speak sincere
a deranged schizophrenic fit
I see not one in the mirror
but two, seven, and four
my reflections show me horror
demented voices and words
hell yes !
I'm insane in the membrane
not saying I like it
but I'm done trying to fight it
depression and bitterness is sweet
no longer do I see it as personal defeat
demonic whispers inspire my art
 insanity and I
will never depart!

'And so say all of us'

Whether you write on this particular subject from true personal experience Muse, or as a result of some un-natural insight and gift is unimportant ' non compos mentis' provides those that take a few moments out to savour it "and by 'it' I mean some of the less obvious or in your face messages this work either deliberately or inadvertently contains . There, having now got that off my chest, I must only add that I thoroughly enjoyed this little excursion into madness... All Good Things, N

I like that! It's so brazen, and written with a quelling madness that I can truly appreciate. It's so rewarding to harness that wayward energy and use it as an outlet for inspiration, and for catharsis.. they say insanity is just a rational reaction to an irrational situation- and I so genuinely agree. Great write, Muse!

My friend, your work strikes at something just beyond my grasp most times. There is a depth in you which is simply outside of my ability to plumb. But.. This one... hmmm. What to say. HELL YES! I heard it. Every ranting, rumbling, roiling, female, hormone saturated syllable. In stereophonic (early HD) clarity. WORD sister. To all of that in us which is human.

You ever paint ? a palette of your favorite colors waiting to be blended into it's niche of the spectrum , brushes and other tactile instruments pressing it into the blank canvas ... it's not insanity it's an Artist expressing through Art , coalescing through Art ... expression of Self

non compos mentis....but lucid enough to etch out with the razor the sweet comfort to be had in self-recognition and acceptance.

Well Muse, You have succeeded in scaring the hell out of me. I love the way you held nothing back. Although there is a darkside lurking within these lines, I couldn't help but feel like a caged animal as this person is a allowed to live totally free through breaking the shackles of their conscience. In some twisted way, a piece of ourselves way down at the pit of our stomachs envy them. I couldn't help but ponder how this all could play out while applying the situation to Dr.Jung's Shadow Theory. Serious thought provoking work.
