Choke me

Choke me

A Poem by Muse

For you
I shut my mouth
choking me slowly now
resisting the urge to shout
suppressing each of my words
snuffing out each little breath
a jaded embrace
For you
I close my eyes
my thoughts withheld
just your feeble little lamb
my abilities for you to despise
no prince charming do I see
just an Antichrist
For you
I plug my ears
blocking each and every lie
 mixing truth with fictional fears
wiping the spit from my eye
deaf and arrogant
egotistical a*s
For you
I hide my hands
fist clasped tightly behind my back
fingers pressed upon my pulsating gland
ready for another truce-less attack
choking me slowly now
in peaceful solitude

I understand this sort of hell intimately~ you bring its raw edges out from the victim who won't be victimized to the vivid forefront~

I was talking to someone about this sort of non relationship nightmare the other day and she had asked why I was accomodating at my own emotional peril~ I told her I wasn't ~I was appeasing~ I said something like this

when you "accomodate" someone it's because you genuinely care about their emotions and mental well being~ when you "appease" someone it's to shut their whiny f***ing mouth the f*** up already~ =)~

these mental vampires abound~ and you gotta have some extremely strong reserves to survive their merciless canines~

powerful with impact~ perfectly described~

Great job on this! Great use of the form and great word choice--The emotion feels raw and very present

This was another very well done poem from you. It is hard enough to be stifled in life and to feel as though someone else is keeping you down. The words here are powerful and paint a very dark picture of anger and sadness. There is though that little bit of fight though. The I am not playing victim to circumstance fight. Well done.

"For you"...I have felt that way. Out of dislike / hatred, allowing (for a short time) someone to hurt you. The first stanza is a powerful beginning to an intense poem.
It's very well written and the imagery is quite vivid.

" deaf and arrogant
egotistical a*s"

...Unfortunately, I know this person!!

I enjoyed your poem very much!

Have we met? You do this so well. Solace to know I walk in the company of other women of courange and strength. For my son's sake... that is the refrain oft heard in my head. Thank you from the bottom of my sometimes black heart!

I understand the torment portrayed here. You express it well through the imagery your words entice in the reader. I think everyone can relate to this piece, having a person of similar qualities run across our path. I'm sure it wasn't meant for a chuckle but when I hit the lines
"deaf and arrogant
egotistical a*s"
I did laugh out loud. A great expression of emotion.

Not the way I'd have liked it to read, but I understand. I enjoyed the anger, disgust, and condescension. Powerfully expressed. Submission is potent.
