Masquerade

Masquerade

A Poem by Jenn

Alone in a world of people,

I long for your caress.

Just a touch. A brush of cheek.

Something innocent and pure.

A feeling to let me know

I’m still alive.

A life to let me know

I can still feel.

Can you not see it in my eyes?

Can you not hear it in my voice?

Do I pretend so well

That I may fool even you?

The perfect smile.

The perfect laugh.

Or do I fool myself

So well that I pretend?

I cannot deny,

I cannot deny,

I am poison to the touch.

Truth of the innerself shown true in these words. Well writen to bring out the idea of a persons inner mirrors that hide who they really are, and what goes through their heads, tormenting themselves as other's come into contact with them.

I liked how the top half and the bottom half of the poem were perfectly balanced, like yin and yang.

Wonderful Write!
