The skin I'm in

The skin I'm in

A Poem by Heather

Who I am
Lies in lines on
My fingertips
Wraps my arms and
Stretches
Round my
Elbow
Up, up, up
Over my shoulders

There's a scar on one.
I don't remember
Now
How I got it
Yet, there it is
Smiling like a
Piece of time.

I could count the spots
That speckle my
Existence
Like unblinking eyes
One, two
Three
I lost count
Thinking of a
Meta
Four...

I am a label
With no name
Only white wrapping
Invisibility's color
You can't see me
If I'm see through.

I am
My own reflection
I see poetry
On my skin
These lines say something:
"Life can callous you
If you let it."

Slough
It off
Peel it away
You'll see
Me;
I'm in this skin
But I've never been more free.

Words have form and intent... and are wonder-full when being shared. PS Meta-four was a sweet choice.

A very kinesthetic poem... I enjoyed reading it. I also feel liberated by the written word and creativity in general. Thanks for sharing.

"I see poetry/on my skin" oh yes....
and the scar smiling like a piece of time...i relate, especially the forgetting how we got the scar.
life shows on our body and in our heart...the scars there are not seen but felt.
This is wicked good poetry to wake up to this morning...thank you, Heather...i appreciate your writing and wish I would have written this.
