Lightening Bright and Awesome

Lightening Bright and Awesome

A Poem by Michelle Earl
"

The Jack Russel mentioned in this poem was one of the first dogs I ever walked at the Edmonton Humane Society in October.

"

Baby, you are such a cute little dog,
Dog driven by curiosity deep,
Deep I look into your eyes,
Eyes that implore me for treats.

Treats! Treats! On hind legs, propped on me you search the air,
Air wafting with the scent,
Scent filled with something good,
Good for you,

You respond to my voice, to my word,
Word that tells you where to go,
Go here, go there, everywhere on our walk,
Walk around the neighbourhood, greeny-brown,

Brown are your eyes, white is your fur,
Fur and antics reminiscent of lightening bright and awesome
Awesome and sweet, suiting your name,
Name of a Jack Russell Terrier, Baby.

I really admired the way you ended and began your lines.
Very clear visual images. Thank you for sharing this.
(also enjoyed your Anew poem)
best to you,
Phibby
