You Brought Me Back

You Brought Me Back

A Poem by Lexi Nicole
"

You gave me back my use, you've given me my words.

"

And I just wish I could tell you
That no words on a text message
On a little cell phone screen
Could let you know
The way I feel
About you

You
Who I’ve just met
You do something to me
Bring feelings I’ve never felt
And I love you for it
Love you
And I barely know you

And I don’t care if it’s puppy love
These feelings that I’ve felt
When I see your name
On a cell phone screen
When I hear your voice
Through a text

If this puppy love then fine
I’ll take what I can get
Because you
You make music
On more than just a bass

I and I find myself wondering
About how you might feel
If I’m anything to you
But if I weren’t
Then why would your name
Scroll across my cell phone screen
Over ten times a day

And why else would this feeling
Be so penetrable to her
My dear friend
Who’s pushing me
To you

Maybe it’s puppy love
Or just some girlhood crush
But I know one thing for sure

I love you for this crush
This puppy love
This…thing
Thank you
For making me feel more
Than I ever thought I could

You gave me back my muse
A friend I’ve long forgotten
You’ve given me my words back
So thank you
Thank you
For whatever this feeling is

that is, a lot when someone can give you back, your voice, isnt it

people think that young people dont know what real love is.. and who knows, maybe they really don't, but at whatever age it sure feels real, and so the same perception is certainly still there..

its always nice to read, true innocent affection like tihs.. if only to remind us, those first feelings we had and how wonderful they truly felt..

:)

Lovely simple evocation of the power of soul connections, virtual & more. Your poem's truth is something people of all ages can relate to, believe me.
