The Still Tree

The Still Tree

A Poem by BlueShadow

The Still Tree

The tree sits still

Among the birds

Waiting for the wind

The wind comes and blows

Breaking the silence

And creating sound

The tree sways back and forth

And the birds run away

Hoping that

The tree will be still another day

The sun falls

And the moon rises

The tree sits like a rock

Another day begins

With time flowing like a river

The tree reaches out

And absorbs sunlight

And the squirrels come scurrying

To the tree for food

And shelter

Here comes a little boy

With a book

And he reads out loud to himself

Under the tree

He finds refuge

As the tree finds love in him

Has the sound of a fable. If it has a meaning, possibly it is that all things change.
