Poverty

Poverty

A Poem by BlueShadow

He was in the living room watching TV

When suddenly black clouds and blue rain came

The power went out and he scurried to safety

In his basement where the environment was much more tame

He waited and waited for the weather to dissipate

Hours and hours went on by

Finally he could go up

To say goodbye to his living room and hi to the sky

His house was gone as the storm was rough

His life savings were gone in a flash

Saddened by the weather’s lack of love

He needed things and a lot more cash

He walked on the ground and felt saddened

No more than a beggar alone

He was angry, upset, in despair and mad

He kicked a few brown stones

He was poor now, chained to the earth

Like a prisoner in misery

He didn’t know what to do in desolate’s mirth

Now a pauper, in history
