Two lifes

Two lifes

A Poem by Zafreen Keller-Malik

There was this one amazing girl
Who's name was quite out of this world
All she ever gave was love and happiness
But always received grief and darkness.
She promised to never let a blade touch her skin
Well at least not on purpose, to go right in.
She was always smiling, not a day went by when she wasn't
But inside dying, with more demons than a dozen.
She helped everyone sort their life out and more
While her's fell apart and her heart was sore.
Soon enough she started not to give a f**k
Promises are made to be broken, I give up.
She picked up her scissors, sharper than an eagles talons
Then pretended to fall, like she lost her balance.
When the warm, runny liquid flowed down her skin
She shed a single tear as the feeling sunk in.
Surrounded by friends, she had nobody
To stop her, from harming her body.
She was sad, she was lonely
She felt as pain was her friend, her one and only.
She got up and covered her legs
Picked up her scissors and cleaned the mess
Wiped the streak off her cheek, from that one tear
Put a smile on her face and lost the sneer.
She walked back out, into the real world
Everyone saw her and thought,
What a happy girl.
