It wasn't enough

It wasn't enough

A Poem by icaros13

Maybe a scream would release this pain
Perhaps if I throw a tantrum like a child,
Curse you, call you a w***e
It worked for him

That isn't my way, however
I sit in silence, yearning for the relief of tears
The eyes you loved have gone gray
Their lambency lost

I loved you so completely
Accepted you as you are
Cherished your essence
Worshiped your beauty

It wasn't enough

why does this go screeching through my skull like a reverb on fire? Probably because I can totally relate to it, seven, eight ...ouch, I'd love to hear a scream about now, silence kills slowly, man's ultimate weapon against a female. That's when she know's she's in serious trouble. so fierce, this one.

I was able to connect to the poetic persona/writer.
The poem carried me into the situation of the poetic persona. And I must say that he must have gone into a very distressing experience.
The poem is filled with so much emotion. It really happens sometimes in life that the best that you can offer is not enough for the person you love.

tragic and beautiful. Love that is not, cannot, will not be returned is the most painful of love. Beautifully written. heartfelt choice of words.

...
. a gem of a write ... so poignant that i can hear a heart breaking ... there will be another moment in time after this one ... that'll reveal to you its secrets ... about people ... about how they sometimes make mistakes ... about how they leave the people they ought to cherish ... and why they are weak and can't respect love and think that love's not enough ...

About
For we have thought the larger thoughts And gone the shorter way. And we have danced to devil's tunes, Shivering home to pray; To serve one master in the night, Another in the day. ..I do love.. more..
