The Complaint Deptartment Has Moved To An Undisclosed Location

A Poem by icelandicblue

Mamma told me not to be a damn fool
not to drop out of school just follow the
rules.

Mama told me not to stare at the sun
not to go on the run with that punk with
the gun.

But I didn't listen, not one little bit
I just wouldn't submit till I got sick of this
s**t.

Went and got my college degree
My mamma agrees that I'm back being
me.

Had a wedding, was a beautiful bride
live in a subdivide on the east
side.

But karma she is one funny b***h
there's always a glitch, I had birthed me a
witch.

Daughter i told her not to be a damn fool
not to drop out of school just follow the
rules.

Daughter I told her not to stare at the sun
not to go on the run with that punk with
the gun.

I figured eventually she would astound
and slow the hell down, and find higher
ground.

So if you are living your life in the fast lane
feeling no pain, when it happens to you just don't
complain.

Yup and Yup. Only I am a lot different from my mama - but sometimes I am just like her. My kids though - they're pretty much nothing like me. So....no looping here. I hope.

Ha I'm with you there...cheers!
Had to smile at this...all the advice we got from parents, really does make sense now, the older we get...reflectively...intelligent twist x

It can be a mirror of sorts. Thanks for the insight Poppy.
Hey very nice poem...I don't know if the poem was personal or not but I am sure things will work out for the good, but genuinely hope Karma exists, and if she does, remains a b***h...only then would justice prevail in its own way...

It's a made up scenario...a line just jumped into my head and the rest as they say is history.
Very energetic. I can picture someone on a stage gesticulating while rapping this work. Well done.

Thanks for the smile Moon.
Mothers always wish the consequences you describe on their recalcitrant daughters, and when it happens to you, you really understand where your poor Mom was coming from. A little too late, of course. Well done, Anne. I enjoyed the read very much.

Thanks Joyce, just something for fun.
Karma always comes full circle. LOL! It's not so funny when it happens to you, but it does lend understanding in the end. Cute poem.
