The Bridge Eternal

The Bridge Eternal

A Poem by icelandicblue

Night has fallen in silken silence
while the clouds blanket the sky.
There is a preternatural stillness
that makes me hold my breath

and right before I exhale
the first perfect flakes fall languidly
from the heavens and gently dust
my lashes and brows in crystalline glitter.

There is no chill in moments of perfection,
all discomforts disappear when magic
delicately caresses you and reminds you
that in the end it is these moments

you will call upon to give you strength
when you reach out peacefully to the
unknown on the other side of life.
It is a journey you will make alone

but you must be willing to remember
solitude does not mean you have been abandoned.
It is just the bridge between here and there
and you will walk the beauty of it with conviction,

flowing over with the all the love you hold,
while a luminous aura surrounds you
pulling you toward a cluster of stars
that have patiently awaited your arrival.

It brings peace to imagine the bridge you speak of. But will I walk the beauty of it with conviction, that I wonder. When the moment comes, I will need to reach deep for a conviction that I do not yet today feel at 50.

Strong piece, genuine and hopeful.

Thank you so much Solar.
Mmmmm ... this is so beautiful. I was immediately reminded of the ending to the movie, "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon," where Jen throws herself off the side of the mountain, sacrificing herself in order to please the gods. Your poem evokes that same feeling in me that seeing Jen free-floating through the mist evokes. It's a selfless act of relinquishing and letting go. The acceptance of it all is such freedom.

You are most welcome.
I see you are deep in the past hoping it will bridge to the future. I believe it will.
Good to read you poetry again Blue. Even if it blankets the heart with a cool melancholy of questions, I find the write a calm reflection.
Best to you and yours.
Be well.

This lovely, spiritual poem sign-posts the route to absolute calm. If people read and read - and read it again, every tear and stressful feeling would evaporate and, that of course, is its intention. For me tis a moss-covered bridge leading to a meadow where smiling buttercups grow and daisies wave you welcome.

Your words are true poetry, beautiful, haunting. Sigh.

oh this is beautiful and ephemeral like ice crystals in the sky on a quiet night. Just lovely - a poem to breathe in...and exhale...

What a lovely thing to say. Thanks so much Tammy.
beautiful ...just last night i stepped out on the deck and tho it wasn't snowing (we have about 12 inches on the ground) the silence you so well describe is the best part of winter for me ... and certainly the walk we will make must surely be led by that peace and (as you say) certainty ... putting this one in the ol' library for sure! nice emotive tranquil trip in the reading

AH THANKS SO MUCH EINSTEIN. I'M SO HAPPY YOU LIKED THIS ONE.
There is so much beauty in these words. There is a softness and and an uplifting warmth that flows through your wintered phrasing. So very positive and comforting. This felt very nice to read. It has a euphoric feel, as if I am floting as I read. Really good Icelandicblue.
