Icarus Dude

Icarus Dude

A Poem by Zac
"

This is a poem I wrote after my girlfriend left me.

"
If I was Icarus
You are the feathers
I tied you to my back with
wax.

From the start it seemed
impossible.
Crazy
they said, I was.

Together
you and I
Proved them wrong.

We flew away.
No longer did Crete
hold us with her
scaly hands
as her
green teeth
gnashed at our heels
we soared.

I guess I got
carried away
and I
flew to high

The sun melted the
wax.

We fell

apart

look at me now.
Falling
Floundering

A fish out of water
I flop in air.

But while I
plummit
to
my doom

I see
you
gently
floating down

your feathers catch every
draft of air
and you soar
free.

I hope that as I
fall I can grab onto you
and hold you

to
save
me.

But I realize
you are happy
you are
free

you can do what you want
so I fall
and i hit the ground

but as I lie in my grave
I still see you fly

so happy

no longer are you held by
wax bonds.

no longer bound to me
causing you to slow down
and fall.
