Kentucky's Son

Kentucky's Son

A Poem by ikss
"

Lyrics For my Daddy

"

Kentucky Sun

not in his eyes

but in his mind

so strong

White-lined blacktop

my daddy's passion

thick like sorghum

or a song

Every year another flood

Every flood, it brings along

Every shade of mud

Kentucky heat

not on his brow

but stuck in tow

so hard

Yellow gardens

replace old rows

using old hoes

for so long

Every year another flood

Every flood, it brings along

Every shade of mud

Kentucky's son

a blue grass wolf

has found his truth

in the sound

Barn owls howlin'

in midnight gardens

and Sunday mornin's

coming down

I always find it difficult to have people read my lyrics without the context of the music, but hopefully you will be able to get my meaning, anyway.
I am interested to know if this makes any sense to anyone aside from myself. :)

Personally, I love it. I can picture the mud. Of course there's not a lot of mud in Western Kansas. Keep writing, you're great!

I don't understand all of it, but I like it. It's no secret that I'm not very good at figuring these things out. I like that refrain of sorts, "Every year another flood...etc" And the "Sunday mornin' comin' down" is from an old song. (Ray Stevens?) Well, I did my best, ikss.
