FACADEA Poem by LenaPeople are'nt always what they seemI saw a man of Charity, A man of Justice and Love
I saw a father figure that would raise our children’s hopes high above I saw a man that spoke of a mother’s affection I saw a man that understood the responsibility of a father’s protection I saw a man that said he prayed to God How was I suppose to know that it was all a façade Where I thought I saw a man, a little boy hid pining Where I thought I saw a man, of truth and honor he needed reminding A man is not a man if by his word he can not stand A man is not a man if his worth is measured by material demand The prestige of your provisions does not a man make The material trapping of the world’s toys, of your character it can not state The Real worth of a man is seen in the eyes of God And not in the execution of a perfected Façade © 2008 LenaFeatured Review
