Autumn Version I

Autumn Version I

A Poem by Erin Was Here.

Limestone columns

Ivy embracing

Trout lilies yellow.

Bodies of dead,

Dry leaves in fall.

Cardinal

Cloudless sky,

Cool sun.

Lincoln log step in the fallen log

Leaves look like dragon’s wings;

Curled.

Trail like a finger in the sand.

A swelled creek,

Ripples look as though a finger is stirring

Sounds like water pouring

Out of a pitcher.

Moss isle—

Black puddle surrounding.

Algae like mermaid’s hair

Lone duck in the center of the pond--

Sleeping.

Violets like the bonnets of fine ladies

On a picnic.

Creek flowing, muttering

Like a mother comforting a child.

Dandelions

Like thousands of yellow stars

In an emerald sky.

Erin Was Here.
This is about a trail in the woods near my house.
Any ideas for a better title??
