Maudlin eyes

Maudlin eyes

A Poem by Evita

It was for her maudlin eyes
vast, vibrant hued
that He forgave her many lies
and her fickle faith renewed

Mary woeful wept the depth
of her sins that day
immortalized to renew each tear
and solace in mind to pray
no lukewarm repentance said He
and harshest verdict issued
a service for eternity
to lead the debauched lewd

redemption for their sinning souls
but one last chance to change
the salvation in her wretched orbs
sinners can seek to gain
many with her once easy guile
recognized themselves
her misfortune an example made
a willing sacrifice for sinners laid

and even now Mary cries
a warning for mortals here
a sinner's saint for her tears
the saving grace to those who fear
eternity of Maudlin eyes
