Burnout

Burnout

A Poem by MCS
"

Burnout: nature's way of telling you that you've been going through the motions, but your soul has departed; you're a zombie, a member of the walking dead, a sleepwalker. ~ Sam Keen

"

Equanimity

That zone of stillness

Cracks visible, burn out imminent

Swearing under one’s breath

Paper flutters

Pen presses harder

Too tired to care

Watching the clock

Thank goodness it’s a long weekend

"Too tired to care"
Yes, yes, yes Mary. So very tired to my last bone and nerve...Your perfect and extremely timely description and artwork addressing "Burnout" resonates deeply with me. Each day I try to "zone out" just to get through without breaking down. Words fail me more and more often. As someone who suffers from depression, I try not to have the tunnel swallow me. Friends and wonderful Poets, like you, keep me intact and afloat. For this you have my heartfelt thanks.

It's been a long weekend for a year now...
Stuck inside our dilemma, appropriations of thoughts that replay over and over with no
source for new ones.
Our mind as inside as we have all been for too long.
Time moves so slowly when we have nothing else to do but watch it.
I've broken a few pens pressing too hard during this isolation.
But I have a good supply...good enough I hope.
Excellent write, Mary.
