Special

A poem about wanting to do things for someone else. Drew some inspiration from the song "Special" from the Avenue Q musical.

I want to make you feel special
Because I'm glad that you're you
I can make you feel special
In more ways than two

I want to do nice things
Like bake you a cake
Or buy you some books
And hear what you've to say

I want to wax poetic
And wax philosophical
Take you somewhere tropical
And do something athletic

I hope you have broken things
Just so I can fix them
That way I can bring
Soup if you're also sick then

I wish your hands were gloves
So I could wear them on mine
I wish your voice was an alarm,
So I could hear it every time

I'd love to go for walks
Because I want you next to me
I love it when you talk
Because I can feel your energy

I want you at the start of my day
And I want you at its end
I want you to stay
And I want to wake in your bed
