Wings

Wings

A Poem by Jacques - iNkwire
"

A poem for potential partners and their fears of growing closer. This poem also contains flavorings from the pandemic and resulting social isolation.

"
I won't clip your wings
I want to fly in formation
Not looking for a fling,
I want to build a relationship
We both have teeth,
but mine aren't for biting
They're for showing you smiles
so that I look inviting
Maybe you're scared -
Know that I am too
I just want to be prepared
for spending time with you
Each opportunity I get
is something to celebrate
and a reason to fret
because I think you're great
You always light rooms up
like an open window would
You're a breath of fresh air
and I'd be thrilled if I could
be next to you right now
I'd still want the same
If I could be outside now
Talking to you is
nearly always fun
Whether it's over dinner
or out under the sun
We both feel caged,
but the doors will open soon
I hope when that happens,
I'll get to spend time with you
You know what they say
about birds with wings
They can fly anywhere else,
but they choose to stay
near so they can fly together
Whether it's sunny out there
or if there's stormy weather
I want you to know I care
If I can fly with you
I'd feel so much better

About
Hi. Most of my work is poetry, but I intend to put some stories out in the future. I write about what makes me feel strongly. This approach mostly results in romantic pieces, but I hope to branch o.. more..
