A musician younger than I

A musician younger than I

A Poem by Isiah Holmes

I’ve spent much time with my friend

A friend of wise madness, of lyric intent

I’ve spent several days with my friend

Now contained for crimes bound to his name

Is it a shame to know of such a person

Is it a shame to feed his cravings, I don’t think

As he himself had said, he’s no slave to his own mind

As I have often wondered, as I still have no answer

No response prepared to provide

He’s taught me many things, most of life and abstract

Some of sheer humor, others of his own troubles

He is a friend, good by nature, sour in the eyes of our society

He’s taught me a lot, a lot in a short time

I’ve learned more questions to ask my friend

A musician younger than I
