Was it a Dream

Was it a Dream

A Poem by Anita B Jacques
"

He came to get something and he left something behind, your guess

One certain night
She finds herself
Sitting in bed
Not surprised to see
Her departed husband
Gone, only a few days
Standing at the end
Of their bed

He is looking at her
In a familiar way
So handsome
About thirty years young
No sign of illness
Under his left arm
His shaving kit....
Sign for good bye ?.

"I came to get something"
He said
"Where are you ?"
She asked
"With Jesus"
He answered
"I have to go now"
Next he was gone
She gently went back to sleep
He left behind
A sense of peace
And the precious memory of his visit

Glad to see you were granted this wonderful vision of your husband. I believe in these occurances and also believe they are with us more than we think. This was a sweet and peaceful acknowledgement to this soul lifting enlightenment. Maybe retriving the shaving kit was his way of saying, "I am not dead, just living in another realm." God bless you.

Very nice indeed. The peace imparted, by the newly departed, flows gently through your poem and overflows to the reader...at least to this reader. Well done Annie!

Very Moving. I lost my mom 9 years ago. I will never forget that night. She came and gave me a kiss goodbye. You know, I think I am going to write about that. Not stealing your work, growing instead. Thank you for sharingfrom the heart. That is the only place that could spawn such beauty. Thank you for sharing, Barb.

Oh, the final goodbye, so few are blessed with this opportunity. The sweet inclusion of having his ditty kit tucked under his arm was as if he wasn't going to be gone for long, that he would be back and how she simply returned to bed. Very touching. Thank you for sharing. Donni

This is really moving... gently letting go so you can move on... I am speechless with sentiment right now.

I loved this unique and beautifully penned poem.
It left me with a peaceful feeling that all was well
and at last the wife could sleep with a contented mind.

Thank you for submitting this beauty to my "A Chance to

Beautifully written. Simple yet moving. Sad but hopeful. Brought peace to his grieving wife so that she could rest knowing he was fine.

He came to get something within a dream... to leave behind the knowledge that he is whole and well... no longer ill and in the arms of Jesus. Leaving behind a sense a peace for his wife... a gentle soul on earth and a wonderful angel.... loving his wife enough to return to make sure she is at ease.. and at peace. :)

Simply lovely...
