*Destination...love*

*Destination...love*

A Poem by Jack...
"

Can't wait to get there

"

*Destination…love*

Long…this highway traveled,

white lines fade into night,

headlights find my determination waits

just beyond the next rest stop,

where exits play keep away

and billboards beckon

*Last chance food and gas*

Speed limits count the minutes,

radio stations fade and resurface

in a different genre, (still I hear our song)

as county lines flash their pleasant good byes

and welcoming hellos,

waving happily in the wind

*Mile marker 63*

Alone with my thoughts,

daydreaming behind tempered glass…

clear my vision and my visions

Blurred surroundings pass

while my heart remains

within the lane of your beauty

*Next stop paradise*

Traffic lights call color to the dark,

familiar landmarks release nighttime butterflies

alive in the midst of my stomach

My heart mimics the rhythm of the turn signal beat,

flashing arrows prime these feelings

as I see your silhouette on the curtain

*I have arrived*

I've almost always only been a passenger in a vehicle, but this affords me more of a chance at dissolving into thoughts as roads and geography whip by. It may not be the same destination that I seek in those moments, but I know the feeling. Well done Jack.

I know you're originally from 'joisey', this really wraps around that journey back home to a loved one...great ending with the silhouette on the curtain, enchanting scene, all that you left out are the annoying tolls and traffic in this area, but that only made your poetry more luverly... another 'sigh' Jack, I think I'm just going to review your poetry with sighs from now on since that's what they seem to do to me every time. 5 sighs *****

Wow, that is my first 5 sigh rating. Thank you so much my sweet friend.
Our destination should be love like you have said Jack in this great poem and along the way we have to suffer or enjoy the trip regardless of distance or cost...Splendid...:)

You are welcome...Hoping you had a good trip ...:)
Anyone who has driven a long distance to get to a loved one will be able to relate to your well written words here, Jack. The photo you chose to accompany your words made it all more real for me. I am originally from Jersey. Nothing like seeing the landmarks you recognize, realizing you are getting close, counting the notes in the song on the radio.....the longing in your words is palpable. I enjoyed the imagery, the sentiment, and, well, everything about this one. Lydi**

A truly amazing journey, loved the way you've described everything. One of my favourite poems from you.

I've traveled around a lot in my life, and driven a lot of miles...from New York to Florida, from Florida to Oregon...I've lived in a large variety of states. Of all the places I've ever lived, the one I miss the most is a little beach town in Texas near Galveston, called "High Island".
Your poem brings back some memories, Jack...mostly good, a few not-so-good.
I love this poem...love waiting at the end of the road...beautiful! Classic Jack romance...
