One Sky

One Sky

A Poem by Jack...
"

Connecting via a beautiful moon - My take on Tuesday night's blue moon

"

One Sky

Quiet echoes bring the night of cricket song and firefly

Masks of clouded abstract shades intercept

Foaming colors take the eye to moments of shadowed dreams

Crimson plumes beneath a starlit canopy

Cars, like low flying jets, unaware, stay within the highway lines

Footing soft on dry grass down paths not yet carved

A sphere, above mature pecan trees, appears as curtains lift

igniting the eastern sky in beaconed majesty

Slowly puzzle pieced mist clears and bursts of color,

rainbows of dark bands announce the arrival

as this evening’s lunar show begins amidst

heavy sighs and mesmerized smiles

Full in splendor, basking in myth,

the blue moon, distant yet touching the soul

for this night is shared, beyond horizon’d glare

and focused thoughts of two places, two hearts, one sky

Whispers follow beams of ancient descent, quietly finding her

hoping she will hear and know…for it is this moon that connects us

for personal reasons i enjoy anything referring to Myths :P inside joke there, but this is just as I knew it would be, elegant, smooth, intelligent, inspirational. all lovers in either heart or mind can relate to this beautiful piece I especially enjoyed the ending stanza that leaves the reader basking in moonlight.

The last stanza is my favorite. There is something mystical and magical about the moon. I love sitting outside staring at it for long periods of time. The stillness and the muted light from the moon at night are stunning. Three season of the year I love to be outside staring at it but in winter not so much, too cold but I still will look at it through the windows.

Great work of perspective Jack. A personal journey through the eye and mind of a fine poet but in such a way as can be shared by the reader while reading and while witnessing the event themselves. Well done.

Thanks so very much Tammy. I am happy you enjoyed this and hope you got to see this moon.
Wonderful imagery Jack, your specialty. I know the lonely feeling of separation, looking at the moon and feeling connected as that is our link, we both can see it at the same time.

Thanks so very much Keith. I always appreciate you stopping by.
Very pretty imagery! The moon is very special to me, as well. I was intrigued when I saw the title & description of this poem, and I'm glad I stopped by to read it. It's a very lovely poem. :)
While I was taking the liberty of reading other reviews & comments below, I noticed you saying that you can tell when the moon is full without looking. I know *exactly* what you mean, and I'm glad to know there are others out there who understand the way it affects us.

And so was your review.
You've successfully created a dense expression of sights and emotions connected with a rising Blue Moon on a quiet Summer evening as a chorus of crickets sang their mating song and swarms of male fireflies ignited their mating fireworks.

I like the feeling of this write. The concept of course is not new and we are connected in so many ways our minds will not fathom in this lifetime, but it is nice to sit back and see something as imposing as the moon and know another soul shared this view with you from far away...
A romantic concept to be sure.
