Tear'd Goodbyes

Tear'd Goodbyes

A Poem by Jack...

Tear’d Goodbyes

Memories fall like fractured dominoes in an empty field,

one by one touching each other,

small black blocks containing pieces of my shattered heart,

white dots counting sleepless hours

Hot coffee turns cold from staring

eastward towards a mockingly vanishing horizon,

curving at the corners in smile like fashion,

sneering as sunlight reflects its meaning

Butterflies come alive in my stomach…again

Fluttering uneasiness as time counts down and cocoons open,

pastel wings of fading brilliance wave,

only to die, drowned within these tear’d goodbyes

I sit here, hands folded under my chin,

dreaming of what could have been through blurred wishes,

understanding that my feelings don’t matter

and realizing that they probably never will

There will be no sunrise today…as the dominoes fall

One cannot acknowledge the feeling of another when they will not acknowledge their own. Another splendid write, Jack.

Thanks so very much Pryde.
Jack, you stun me! I have no 'good enough' words for this but your poems should be published, you know. It's not fair that only WC can witness your writing talent.

Good. We are glad to have you here.
I deeply relate to your sentiments here my friend...it's how I feel so often upon waking up, making coffee that goes cold as I wait for the sunrise, trying to convince myself that it would make me happier than I am. The imagery is raw yet gentle in its poetic and musical grandeur...I feel like I'm being consoled...lovely and powerful work as always Jack.
