inTOXICation

inTOXICation

A Poem by Kenneth Stephen Goodpaster

 There exist no poison more indignant
Whilst depriving the mind by drunken allure
Of sudden release and potent joy indecent;
Only so much liver and mind can endure.
Truly, I understand, but I mustn't deny
That my disapprove is hypocritical,
As voracious ale drinker makes lie
For even I fall tempt for alcohol.
To drown despair in intoxication,
Keep in mind the remark having toxic,
To truly exemplify the desperation
Shrouded by an addicting  gimmick
Ailed by liquors, typically the ale,
That pollutants through my veins slowly trail
