The Tale of Two Mortals

The Tale of Two Mortals

A Poem by Jayzee
"

This is a poem that tells the story of two separate humans. One is just a young boy who has very little other than his righteous image, and the other is a king with fame, glory, and fortune.

"

I stand upon the podium and present to the world,

an image of a righteous saint.

My heart it glares, and my kindness it sparkles,

but my soul is a dark taint.

I revealed it through my words,

but all failed to hear me, none would find the truth.

They’re deceived by my affection, beguiled by my smile,

enslaved to the purity of my youth.

I lay in my bed, and my lonely heart cries,

seeking that which will bring me bliss.

Abhorred among men, and rejected before God,

a burning desire with a kiss.

I traveled up the dark tunnel which I saw from afar,

the shame flows through my blood, and I explode like a star.

It was filled with the lies that the people all swallowed,

though I still traveled up the tunnels I followed.

He picks up his microphone and sings to the world,

they look at him as a King.

His pearls they shine, and his glove it gleams,

but there are secretes in his golden ring.

He showed it to the world,

but they all failed to see, oblivious to his imperfections.

They’re slaves to his skill, and blinded by his craft,

unwary of his dark reflections.

He lays in his bed, and his lonely heart cries,

seeking that which would bring him bliss.

Cursed among men, and detestable before God,

an aberrant lust with a kiss.

He fondled the blooming flower which he picked from the rest,

the guilt flows through his veins and his heart beats out of his chest.

It was filled with the chastity implanted in its roots,

though he still fondles the flowers wearing those culpable boots.

I was a boy, but he was a King -

His gold and his fortunes would pierce my wing -

I was an angel, but he was a god -

his voice was as hot as a fiery rod -

He had fame,

yet we both had shame.

He had a throne,

yet we both were alone.

Our hearts were made pure by the ones who showed love,

but declared unclean by the one from above.
