Little World

Little World

A Poem by Jess Rose

Welcome to my little world
It's small but it's my home
Little world for this little girl
It's much too small for some

Most are not invited
Those who are, they never stay
I told them they were special
I guess special doesn't mean that much these days

This is my little world
It's home but it's not comfy
It's small but it gets lonely 'cause
It gets dark in here sometimes
And in the darkness I can't see what's wrong or right
Little worlds for little girls
Willing darkness into light

I wish that you'd come in
But the doors all have no handles
So it's hard to get a grip on things
And all the lights are candles that are burning out

There's a presence here, I don't know what
But I can't escape these cluttered halls
And the windows all are painted shut

I wish that you'd come in
When you're with me there's a pounding in my chest
I wish that you'd come in
Come home to stay, don't leave like all the rest

Welcome to my little world
It's not comfy but it's home
Most are not invited
No one ever stays

I will leave the light on for you
