Act: YES

Act: YES

A Poem by Jo Anna Bella

How is it that I feel this way?

I thought we’d just meet on the Aegean bay

 for the sake of it,

departing with the usual dismay.

But the fates decided to halt that routine

and now I’m sure that I’m in love,

in this role of life; Act YES: the first scene.

It thrills me so.

The feelings running through my being-

the joys of your usurping my soul.

Who are you, human hero, to ask me out?

To walk and talk, wine and dine, kiss and hug;

making my nerves leap, twist and shout?

Only the power of Fate

could let me be uncontrollably happy,

even as my insides shake.

So now,

I yearn to see you yet again.

To have you captivate me as I indulge

in your desire for me.

The way of the first encounter,

the way we did, trembling, over and over, then.

ACT…yes, Yes, YES!
