DREAMS OF ARABESQUE

DREAMS OF ARABESQUE

A Poem by jeannemarie coulter
"

a salute to my first arabian horse ARABESQUE

"

DREAMS OF ARABESQUE

a flash of fiery red
poised at the edge of the ring
at the livestock auction
in davis
my love at first sight vision of arabesque,
my first purebred arabian horse,
she danced around the ring
like a fairy ballerina on point
in swan lake...
and,
i spent my savings on her
all $236.00 of it...
i was 10 years, old and she was the fantasy horse i dreamed of,
carrying me on quests,
the fearless warrior goddess
with her unbeatable equine companion
through infinite imaginary worlds...
yes,
even now, 50 years later,
i still share my dreams with her,
running free on a beach on some alien fantasy world
ten thousand lightyears beyond this space frame of now,
so free and graceful and alive beyond compare...

I must confess that my utter lack of equine knowledge makes it a bit difficult to identify with the feelings expressed in all of your horse pieces. I can only say that technically the writing is flawless, the setup and phrasing delightful. I wish I had some prior experience with horses so I could provide a more comprehensive review. take care...dan

Jeannemarie my oldest daughter is a horse lover who works with rescue horses. Unfortunately, our land is a bit too far for her to own one, but Houston Livestock Show we love to watch the horses dance. Both the Arabians and the cutting shows are a joy to watch because of the pure beauty and grace of movement. Thank you for painting such a beautiful picture memory with us.

i have shared so much of my life with so many horses, but arabesque will always be a favorite...
If you're horse were able to comprehend human writing, I have a strong feeling that she would really adore this tribute to her. Though the experience itself may not be relatable to everybody(which is by no means a bad thing), the concept underneath the experience is 100% relatable. Also, I just wanted to say that that horse is beautiful, and that the name you gave it is a fantastic one.

100/100. This is a very touching poem. :)

love this - you have taken me from my Sydney right to the side of that ring - I watch that little girl - her eyes growing bigger at the sight of her newfound love and friend - I can feel the excitement of the buy - I can see the years spent together - just her and her horse - really lovely XX
