Unrequited

Unrequited

A Poem by Just_Joshing

A great and powerful yearning,

A terrible and horrible burning,

A mixture between the heinous blend,

My heart is the only thing that is tormented by its unfathomable rend.

Desire and fear pull me relentlessly between,

How will I endure, then rise chaste and clean?

This affliction -this curse- this festering love for you.

A mark upon my head, a binding oath standing sentinel and true.

Cupid’s heartless arrows ignored my piteous plea.

My heart is a wasteland now, no inner place for me to flee.

Unrequited and unwanted, but my love undenied.

Curl up in a ball, I would, but now there be nary a place to hide.
