Insomnia

My second post.

-Insomnia-

 

You have made it.
You’ve just made your self invincible.
The fact that you own this heart of mine
Rendered me vulnerable:
Frozen with a smile,
Dead with your goodbye,
Crazy

In a way that I almost wanted.

 

And here I am,
A soul stuck in a sleepless state,
Writing poems just to forget
What they really were about:
For longing yet again is not allowed,
‘Cause you got your eyes fixed
In an opposite direction,
That I can hardly see your face,
Your eyes,
Your smile.

 

But let me wait,
At least.
So that I
May be able to understand
Why...

Why of all the constellations to choose from
I chose the farthest:

The one--most difficult to reach,

 

Then slowly,
Just maybe,
I’ll forget the glow...

...that you possess.

Wow! Great work my friend! I was mesmerised from beginning to end....the emotions flowed so beautifully throughout this. I felt the sadness of the loss of love....the confusion trying to come to terms with it. Some truly lovely stanza's from your pen. One awesome poem! Keep writing, don't stop!

[Lightfalls]

Oh, late at night writings, and heartbreaking lines, I know this all too well. This is so real, and in its own tragic way possess a beauty, not unlike that of longed for love. I hope you can reach the constellation that you need to...sometimes the things farthest away seem most beautiful from a distance. Perhaps the thrill of the unknown? Anyways, an element of mystery is important in any endeavor, be it life, love, or poetry.

Insomnia often creates a beautiful bloom of thought. This write was just that.

I know the feeling of choosing the farthest constellation and wondering why it happened later.

You may never really forget the glow of that other person though. : Just know that you experienced that person and you made a lot of memories. Forgetting just doesn't seem to be an option though. On the other hand, the pain will fade in time.

Now this is the kind of free verse I admire. You made the lines just as long or as short as you needed, you steered clear of hackneyed imagery, and even created some fine images of your own. Too many poems on this site rehash boring clichés that happen to rhyme, but you haven't done this. You should be very proud (your poem is similar in tone to those of Neruda, was this a conscious thing?), and I'm very pleased you posted it.

I found this poem extremely captivating. It wasn't one of those poems where you want to fall asleep after the first two lines. I especially liked the last two lines of the first stanza. "Crazy,in a way that I almost wanted," it shows interesting side of the narrator, a side which many of us possess ( A feeling of loving to hate something) great job!
