They Got 'My Bottom End'

They Got 'My Bottom End'

They Got My Bottom End

Time has passed, I’m back again

Perched high in a hospital bed

With my telly and bear beside me

And a dozen books to be read.

I figure I’ll sit and pass the time

Watching telly, reading and chat

But this hospital stay is different

And a lot more involved than that.

Pills and liquids and other tests

Soon showed up what was wrong

And the hurried visits to the loo

Left behind a distinctive ‘pong’

My surgery will be done today

And I hope I don’t sound crass,

You see – they found bowel cancer –

Ain’t THAT a pain in the a*s!

My mother always said it was "keeping her farts in" that led to her colon cancer...hard to scientifically prove that! But equally hard to disprove! All the best...and let 'er rip!

This one left me speechless at first. I can say from experiance working in hospitals that unfortunatly we all have to go through medical poking and prodding at some point in time. How brave and honest of you to write about it. I have had family members with this type of cancer who do not want to talk about it at all. I hope everything turned out well for you. I tend to have a morbid sense of humor from working in nursing homes, your last paragraph made me choke on my tea! Love, Jamie
