Ode to Hair

Ode to Hair

A Poem by Jodelle
"

A tribute sonnet

"
Black fibres pour a-top my glowing skin
Each girl scowls at me with envy, I grin
For theirs grow wild and fickle, out of shape
my hair grows in a capable, neat state
Luxurious and strands of flowing fun
Up-do or tucked inside a tasty bun
I'll tell my hair how and where to grow
If not then I will tell it where to go
It f***s me off when one style frizzes
when thousands of frozen water pisses
down and into my afro hair
the slick and shine melts away- they stare
don't stare, it was beautiful before

A splendid read and write...:)...............

In your kind review of my poem you said you wished you could write a sonnet like it. But it's clear you are capable. Your ode, while it doesn't quite meet all the requirements of a sonnet, is much better than my first attempts were. You start out well here with ten-syllables per line, but near the end the number misses. And although the rhyming pattern doesn't exactly fit a sonnet, it's clear you are a good enough rhymer to do that as well. Very well done. Richard
