Xeric Eyes Never See Life As It Truly Is

Xeric Eyes Never See Life As It Truly Is

A Poem by jumbie's #1 fan

Xerically-Deprived Eyes Never See Life As It Truly Is

There are those of us

Who keep it all in

Who refuse to let anyone see

Their true feelings

They veil their opinions

Keep their heads down all day

Never saying a word

Never shedding a tear

They go through life

Staring into blank nothingness

Completely numb

Barely aware of the surroundings

Not even caring about what’s around them

Nothing fazes them

Nothing

That’s all they see

Nothing

They can’t even say they feel empty

Because that would be feeling

They just

Are.

They’ll always just

Be.

Then there are those of us

Who wear our hearts on our sleeves

Who may not share our feelings openly and outward

But still it is plain to see

Even though we may be constantly feeling

Pain

Love

Happiness

Depression

And even though many times

Our eyes lachrymose

We are the ones

Who know what life truly is

It’s not always happy

It’s not always dark

It just is what it is

And to the xerically-deprived ones among us

You have to feel pain to experience happiness

You can’t go through life being empty

It’s not easy

No it’s not always pleasant

But the life God gave you

Should always be regarded as a present.
