Magic Cup

Magic Cup

A Story by Juan Valdez
"

A Starbucks story.

"

I sipped my coffee. I saw a twinkle in my cup.

“Do you like my new mug?” I asked my mom.

“It's lovely dear.” She responded without looking.

Nothing ever happened here. I checked to see what was in my cup when my dad walked into the room.

“Starbucks” he said pointing to my mug.

“Yeah”, I responded, “I think its magic.” Starbucks had just opened down the street.

“Now you know magic isn't real”, said my mom.

“I don't know. I can feel it. There is something out there.”

My mug then floated out of my hands. We all froze as we watched it circle the room.

“Where did you get that cup?”, asked my mother.

“The new Starbucks at the plaza.”

“Well I'll be”, said my father.

My mug then smashed itself onto the ground sending coffee and what I believed to be snow all over the living room.

I wiped my face.

“So if magic isn't real, what was that?”
